Contents Cleaning SLAs by Category (TPA / Allstate Worked Example)

Last verified: August 22, 2026. By Will Tygart. Program managers and contents PMs. Left column is working default. Right column is your PVA. Official Allstate hours live in the assignment / GHRN packet — this page teaches clocks and the category split. Not a published Allstate hour table.

Someone already clicked “SLA for cleaning contents for Allstate insurance for different categories.” They want hours by water/fire category, not a contents marketing page.

Clocks (define before you quote hours)

Clock Typical TPA program (not a named carrier’s law) What “done” means
Contact 4 hours from assignment Human reached insured or FM; access plan
Pre-pack walk + photos in portal 24 hours from access Room photos, condition codes started
On-site contents start 24 hours from assignment when the structure is safe Not the mitigation 2-hour clock
Inventory / first contents scope 48 hours from access Salvage / clean / dispose split
Pack-out complete (authorized) Per volume; state cubic feet in the SLA Chain of custody signed
Clean return / pack-back Gated on structure ready — not a calendar fantasy New cartons; not the dirty pack-out boxes

By loss category (the Allstate question)

Carriers do not publish one public hour table for “Cat 1 vs Cat 3 contents.” They publish job type and expect IICRC category to drive method.

Category / peril Contents handling SLA emphasis
Cat 1 water Clean in place when possible; pack-out if reconstruction or volume Speed to dry + inventory. Soft goods often salvageable
Cat 2 water More porous dispose; hard goods clean PPE + written category in the contents assignment
Cat 3 water / sewage / overland flood See Cat 3 pack-out. Default porous dispose Authorization before dumpsters. Do not miss the 48-hour inventory clock because you were arguing category
Fire / smoke (S700) Pack-out for cleaning vs replace by residue class Separate contents Xactimate assignment is common
Room-and-contents fire Origin room often total; adjacent smoke pack-out Do not let a two-room flame estimate erase whole-house smoke contents

Allstate / GHRN file hygiene (not official hours)

  • Contents restoration, pack-out, and cleaning are typically a separate assignment from water/fire mitigation.
  • Pack-out approval belongs in the estimate notes before the truck is loaded.
  • Non-salvage needs photos in place. Dumpster photos after the fact lose the claim.
  • If your GHRN or TPA letter lists different hours, those hours win. Put them in the ERP.
